The British poet Edith Sitwell wrote, “Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.”
But, when it comes to the greater Ft. Worth region, we all know it’s sometimes hard to maintain the “warmth” part of her definition from January until Spring, and that’s where McCann Home Repair can make all the difference!
From caulking gaps in windows and doors to installing storm doors or switching out your thermostat to an energy-saving digital one, McCann Home Repair can help bring back that “warmth” to your home, and save you money on your utility bills at the same time.
In the meantime, below are some hints that you can do before you call us:
- Get a draft stopper — anything from a rolled up bath towel placed at the base of your exterior door to one of these cute little guys that you can buy for around $25 – $40
- Get your ceiling fans going in the right direction — Be sure the blades rotate clockwise during winter months. This will push the warm air from the ceiling downward to warm up your room.
- Turn your thermostat down — When you plan to be gone for several hours, turn it down to about 55 degrees. Why waste heat when no one is there to enjoy it? Turning it down for 8 hours a day could save you as much as 10 percent of your energy bill during winter months.
- Replace A/C / Furnace filters — Dirty filters prevent proper airflow and make your furnace work harder.
